Description
‘Sea Green’
9Y-GYR
[Poeticus 9]
(Engleheart, G.H., pre-1930)
A flower of regular outline, with consistently well-overlapping perianth segments, and a large, circular coronal disk. On opening, much of the latter is suffused with a slight cast of verdigris, which recedes to a more greyed green, broad eye zone as the flower develops. The minutely denticulate rim is dark rust-red with a hint of orange at first, maturing to strong coral-pink/red (almost brick-red) before fading to rich coral-pink with a hint of salmon-orange. The mid-zone of rich lemon-yellow becomes softer with age, but never as chalky as in ‘Ornatus’ or ‘Sonata’. Tall and late, with a faint soapy scent.
