Description
‘Caedmon’
9W-GYR
[Poeticus 9]
(Engleheart, G.H., pre-1913)
A tall, late-flowering Poet, striking from a distance due to the small corona of jewel-rich colours, and a slightly untidy appearance which lends a lively, rather than rough, quality. The recurving perianth is pure white; the outer perianth segments are very broad, oblong-round; the inner segments are more ovate, with incurved margins creating grey shadows. At the rim is a mm-wide ribbon of dark rust-red, which fades to rich coral-pink/red; the rest of the shallow saucer is strong Dresden yellow, the green cast on opening retreating to the mottled dull olive-green eye zone as the flower matures. Faintly sweetly scented.
