Description
‘Ladybird’
2Y-YOO
[Incomparabilis 2a]
(Mrs R.O. Backhouse, pre-1910; N. radiiflorus var. poetarum x N. obvallaris)
Rich colouring for such an early hybrid. Perianth segments rather slender and spreading, soon fading to sulphur-yellow. Corona straight, slender, deeply flanged; sometimes a little pinched at the mouth; depth of colour varying from soft to strong orange. Dwarf habit. Years ago we mistakenly sold this as ‘C.J. Backhouse’, but then, doubting this, withdrew it pending further research; we are now confident, from an archival picture, that we have determined its true identity.
