N. × odorus
(European origin, pre-1629)
“Campernelle” seems to embrace many old hybrids between N. jonquilla and a yellow trumpet or large-cupped daffodil. Many stocks are offered as ‘Rugulosus’ (the Latin for “somewhat wrinkled”), which should be larger and richer gold, with a “characteristic pleated mouth” (Bowles, 1934), rather than a conspicuously six-lobed margin. It is Parkinson’s “great Junquilia with the largest flower or cup”. We hesitate to name our richly-perfumed stock as being this.
