Description
‘Mohican’
3W-YYO
[Barrii, 3b]
(Mrs R. O. Backhouse, pre-1903)
A delightful sibling of ‘Sunrise’, this was apparently last available commercially in 1930. Although the perianth can be suffused pale soft gold on opening, only the base of the recurving segment retains a gleam of this. Usually paler towards the eye zone, the neat corona can be fiery scarlet-orange at first, but this rich colouring soon retreats to the lightly wavy margin, leaving intense orange-gold in its wake.
