Description
‘The First’
1Y-Y(a)
[Trumpet]
(van Zonneveld Bros & Philippo, 1921)
Floriferous and naturally early-flowering, this was first grown in Scilly in the mid-1930s and endured as a mainland cut-flower for at least a further thirty years. The imposing, rich yellow, chiselled and slightly flaring trumpet is conspicuously longer than the soft primrose perianth until the deeply notched rim becomes abruptly recurved at maturity.
