Description
‘Strongbow’
2WWY-Y(b)
[Incomparabilis]
(G.H. Engleheart, pre-1898)
The straight corona and conspicuously long stigma suggest affinities with the Nelsonii Group (and indeed Barr & Sons did group it under Nelsonii in 1903). The horizontal poise of the flower and the perianth segments held perpendicularly to the corona, however, are not characteristic of this Group. Formerly sold by us under the trade name HOWICK’S HALF NELSON but determined in 2023, on the basis of archive descriptions, to be Engleheart’s ‘Strongbow’.
