Description
‘Folly’
2W-O
[Incomparabilis 2b]
(Williams, P.D.; pre-1926)
The milk-white perianth segments sweep back from the shallow, widely expanded, pleated corona. The glowing orange of the gently six-lobed and lightly-crenate rim suffuses aureolin, particularly within the corona. Charming, compact and long-lasting. “Mr P.D. Williams may raise a finer flower than ‘Folly’ some day, but it is hard to believe he can improve on the peculiar charm of its brilliancy, gaiety and refinement.” [E.A. Bowles, A Handbook of Narcissus (1934)] (In fact, sadly, PDW died the following year.)
