Description
‘Laurens Koster’
8W-Y
[Tazetta (Poetaz) 8]
(A. Vis, pre-1906; {‘Ornatus’ × N. tazetta})
Although this modest but mighty flower belongs to the Poetaz Group, both parents have contributed even-handedly. The flowers are too large and too few to be regarded as resembling a true Tazetta, but are too small and too numerous when compared with other Poetaz cultivars, which often bear larger twin flowers, on longer stems, with more dazzlingly white perianths and more richly coloured cups. The neat flowers of ‘L.K.’ have broad, rounded, milk-white perianth segments and a lightly pleated, shallow, saffron bowl — a colour swithering delightfully between yellow and orange. A prolific, semi-dwarf Poetaz, flowering mid-season here, which can duck the worst of the weather, and, perhaps, sufficiently hardy to be tried outdoors.
