Description
‘Daphne’
4W-W
[Double]
(F. Culpin, pre-1914)
When fully open, ‘Daphne’ is a most beautiful, snowy white, scented double Poet with broad, rounded, overlapping outer perianth segments, and a swirl of shorter, rounded perianth petaloids within, tinted lemon at the base. Sadly, ‘Daphne’ isn’t the greatest fan of conditions on our croft, sometimes preferring the single life, which is, according to the flower farmer who discovered her, ‘Ornatus’. Other forms of “Double White” flower weeks later here, and remain more consistently double. However, where ‘Daphne’ thrives, she well deserves her synonym, ‘Spalding Queenie’.
