Description
‘Princess Mary’
2W-O(b) [?3W-O]
[Incomparabilis?]
(Leeds, E., pre-1877; possibly (N. pseudonarcissus × N. poeticus) × N. poeticus)
Unsure of its identity, we have previously sold this under the trade name BRIGHTERWELL [owing to its similarity to ‘Whitewell’], but at last the penny has dropped following further research. The perianth is glistening milk-white, with a strong midrib; the corona ruffled and pleated, and of a distinct and intriguing saffron-yellow suffused orange. ‘Princess Mary’ has been classified to date as a Division 2, but seems to us to be very borderline with Division 3 – perhaps not surprisingly in view of its putative parentage.
