Description
‘Ozan’
2W-Y
[Leedsii 4b]
(Williams, P.D., pre-1916)
P.D. bred many a trooper of the cut-flower daffodil world … ‘Carlton’, ‘Pentewan’, ‘California’ … but ‘Ozan’ is cut from a decidedly different cloth. The outer perianth segments are broadly ovate; the inner not as well formed, narrower, sometimes a little ribby and recurving at maturity. On opening, the scarcely flaring corona is primrose-yellow, dappled white at the mouth. For such a long cup, it is surprisingly closely and strongly pleated from base to evenly ruffled rim. As the flower matures, and the colouring fades to a softer hue, the base of the corona becomes rounded, and all that remains of the pleats are some low rounded ridges. The margin becomes an unusual trim of short crenulations: some recurved, some furrowed or ridged, occasionally overlapping; some dabbed with white, resembling narrow, gathered lace. Below average height; flowering late mid-season. To date we haven’t come across ‘Ozan’ listed in a catalogue. We are genuinely delighted to make it available here, to help secure this beautiful daffodil’s future.
